This week the LiC journalists visited: Western Appreciation of Arab and Islamic Civilisation in the Arcadian Library
A display of holdings from the Arcadian Library the University of SOAS, examining the centuries-old relationship between the West and the Arab and Islamic world through books, engravings, manuscripts and documents. On display there were books that were hand drawn and editions of scientific texts - medical, astronomical and alchemical - that illustrate the impact of Islam's scientific minds on western learning from medieval times to the European Renaissance and beyond.
The young journalists found it interesting and were very keen of interviewing Ben the Curator. Young journalist Aminul says 'It was very intersting because we learned who created the fountain pens, maths, medicine books and more. All of these were created by the Arabs then it was past on to the Europeans for it to be developed and then it was take by the Wests`.
